Appointments

There are three types of appointments available with the doctors and nurses, namely:

  • Book in Advance
  • Book on the Day
  • Telephone Consultations

Book in Advance

As the name suggests, these can be booked in advance.

NEW! You can now book appointments up to 4 weeks in advance.

Book on Day

You may be able to get an appointment on the same day if you call at 8.00am.

To ensure fairness for all patients please do not call before this time as you will not be able to book an appointment.

Telephone Consultations

If you think your problem can be solved by talking to the GP or Nurse on the phone, please call our receptionists to book a telephone consultation.

Please note: Should you book a telephone consultation the GP or Nurse will call you after their morning or evening surgery.

Home Visits

Requests for home visits should be made only if the patient is unfit to attend the surgery.

Please make your request before 10am if possible, except in an emergency.

Please be prepared to give as much information as possible so that we can accurately determine the urgency of the visit.

In a real emergency that cannot wait, please call 999.

Cancelling Appointments

If for any reason you cannot keep your appointment, please inform us at the earliest possible opportunity.

Your cancellation will help other patients in urgent need to be seen by the clinicians.

Appointments with the GPs are for 10 mins, this means that in general one problem can be addressed per consultation.

If you have more than one problem, please ask the receptionist to book a double appointment for you.

Chaperone

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.  The chaperone may be a family member or friend.  On occasions, you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way.

Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.
